Woking have been running a District Cricket side for many years now which involve children from the schools in the WASPs organisation.

Thirty players were put forward for trials that were held in mid May at Byfleet Cricket Club. From this trial a team will be selected to play several matchs during the Summer.

 

A friendly match was arranged against Valley End Cricket Club on Saturday 26th May. The Woking Team was Abdur Rehman (Wicket Keeper), Bradley Stanley, Nick Christie, Alex McColl, Daniel Searle, Tim Richards,Alex Green (Captain) Luke Junes, Ewan McTaggart, Haig Franklin & Gus Cockle.

 

Woking Batted first scoreing 173 for the loss of 5 wickets, notable contributions from Bradley Stanley 24, Nick Christie 24 & Luke Jones 26. Valley End batting second scored 153 for 9 with notable contributions from C. Bouchier 31 and Tobias Lineker with 60 not out. The weather kept fine and we enjoyed a very entertaining and close match. 

 

Woking Win Prosser Hansford Shield for Third Time Successively

 

The Woking Primary Schools District Team won the County Inter District Trophy (The Prosser Hansford Shield) beating Croydon Schools in the final at Epsom College . Croydon were held to 76 for 8 off their 24 over’s with Alex Green (Goldsworth) taking 3 for 16 and James Smith (Pyrford) taking a hat-trick of stumping as well as a catch. Woking after a twitching 6 for 2 wickets start were guided safely to victory by a strong stand between James Smith  and Ashley Rannie (The Marist) with 25 and 36 not out respectively, Which saw Woking home by 7 wickets with 8 over’s to spare.
